ADAM DEITCH CALLS FOR DA MICHAEL MORRISSEY’S IMMEDIATE RESIGNATION
QUINCY, MA - Adam Deitch, a former federal prosecutor and candidate for Norfolk County District Attorney, today released the following statement:
“Michael Morrissey should resign his position as District Attorney effective immediately. Today’s text message revelations represent a devastating blow to the credibility of the State Police Detective Unit in Norfolk County and to anyone who supervised them, including and especially Michael Morrissey.
“Racism, bigotry, misogyny, and antisemitism have absolutely no place in the Massachusetts State Police and the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office. They are appalling and shocking and, under my leadership, will never be tolerated.
“I’ve proudly stood shoulder-to-shoulder with members of local, state, and federal law enforcement, and I know how hard the overwhelming majority of officers work every day. I've seen the faces of good cops when they uncover the misconduct of bad cops. Today is another dark day for law enforcement in Norfolk County.
“Michael Morrissey and anyone on his executive team bear responsibility for the utter failure in leadership and supervision exposed by today’s news.
“Although Michael Morrissey decided not to run for re-election, January is not soon enough. Norfolk County deserves a DA who can lead with integrity and effectively keep our community safe. Michael Morrissey has demonstrated he is not up to the task. He needs to resign effective immediately.”
